Fuel Cells Canada Applauds California's Vision
In a step applauded by Fuel Cells Canada and its members, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger
has implemented legislation to encourage public-private
partnerships in the pursuit of a hydrogen highway
network in California. (See Technical Article)
Californias announcement is another
positive step toward developing a global hydrogen
economy and commercializing hydrogen technologies,
said Ron Britton, president of Fuel Cells Canada.
The California hydrogen highway network
and the BC Hydrogen Highway will foster
the growth of hydrogen centers along the routes
where portable, stationary and mobile fuel cell
powered devices will be demonstrated.
Governor Schwarzeneggers announcement comes
just weeks after Canadian Prime Minister Paul
Martin announced government funding for the BC
Hydrogen Highway on April 1 at the GLOBE 2004
conference in Vancouver.
The Hydrogen Highway brings leading
Canadian and international stakeholders together
to accelerate the commercialization of hydrogen
and fuel cell technology and will provide a global
showcase for these efforts at the 2010 Olympic
Games in Whistler, British Columbia, said
Britton. We look forward to working with
California to further the development of the hydrogen
economy.
