Software Simplifies Evaluation of EM Measurements

Narda Safety Test Solutions of Germany now offers a remote control, analysis and management software package for the frequency-selective field measuring set SRM-3006. Called SRM-3006 TS, the PC software simplifies the acquisition and storage of the results of electromagnetic field measurements, enables subsequent analysis and the automatic generation of user-specific test reports.

Large quantities of data often result from electromagnetic radiation measurements designed to protect people or the environment. Data acquired by the Selective Radiation Meter SRM-3006 from Narda can now be managed, analysed and recorded using the SRM 3006 TS software .

All results can be subsequently analysed. For example, the software can automatically search for peak values in frequency spectra or determine average values over time periods. Integration over a selectable frequency range enables automatic determination of the field exposure due to an entire radio communication service, such as GSM-1800 downlink, or due to an individual service provider.

Instrument Grade Broadband Power Amplifiers

Giga-tronics microwave power amplifiers were designed in response to customer requests for higher power with very wide frequency range, flat frequency response and low noise. The amplifiers are easily used in R&D lab applications and manufacturing automated test systems to overcome power losses from a signal generator or whenever higher power is required. The small size and light weight make them ideal for Lab bench applications, while the ability to place the amplifier close to the device under test (DUT) minimizes cable loss for more optimal testing.

The Giga-tronics microwave power amplifiers are ideal companions to the Giga-tronics microwave signal generators. The amplifiers also feature high reverse isolation, excellent input and output match and the long life and reliability of solid-state technology. Delivery is 6 to 8 weeks ARO.

Clock ICs with low EMI Reduction

ON

ON Semiconductor now offers a new series of active clock generator ICs that manage EMI/RFI at the clock source, delivering system-wide EMI reduction of all clock dependent signals.

The new P3MS650100H and P3MS650103H LVCMOS peak EMI reduction clock generators are ideal for use in space constrained applications such as portable, battery powered devices, including mobile phones and tablets where EMI/RFI can be a significant challenge and compliance with regulations is a pre-requisite. Housed in a miniature four-pin WDFN package measuring 1mm x 1.2mm x 0.8mm, these versatile new devices are spread spectrum clock generators that provide the industry’s smallest stand-alone active solution for reducing EMI/RFI at the clock source as well as downstream clock and data signals derived from the clock source.

The P3MS650100H & P3MS650-103H support input voltages ranging from 1.8V to 3.3V, typical deviations of 0.45% to 1.4%, and reduction of EMI/RFI in clock sources with a frequency range of 15MHz to 60MHz. Operating temperature range is -20 C to +85 C.

Filters Suppress EMI/RFI, Provides ESD Protection

digikey

Digi-Key, Alpha & Omega Semiconductor’s AOZ804x family consists of 4-, 6-, and 8-line devices integrating EMI filtering with ESD protection for each line. The device is designed to suppress unwanted EMI/RFI signals and provide electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection in portable electronic equipment.

The device utilizes AOS leading-edge trench vertical structure (TVS) 2 technology for superior clamping performance and filter attenuation over the full operating display range. The AOZ8045 is optimized for protection of colour LCD displays and CCD camera lines in cellular phones and other portable electronic devices.

The devices consist of four, six, or eight identical circuits comprised of TVS diodes for ESD protection, and a resistor–capacitor network for EMI/RFI filtering. A series resistor value of 100ohm and a capacitance value of 9pF are used to achieve -20dB minimum attenuation from 1GHz to 3GHz. The diodes provide effective suppression of ESD voltages in excess of ±20kV (contact discharge) and ±20kV (air discharge).

Enhanced Electromagnetic Analysis Software

Cobham Technical Services has announced a new release of the Concerto electromagnetic design software for RF and microwave applications from its Vector Fields Software product line. Concerto provides developers with a very cost-effective means of achieving the best solution in the shortest possible time.

Many of the enhancements in this release centre on the powerful 3D geometric Modeller that forms an integral part of all Concerto configurations. This has new meshing options for the finite element Eigenvalue solver, which can result in significantly shorter solution times, and the Modeller now provides access to a range of additional features in Concerto’s finite difference time domain simulation engine. Among these is the ability to present frequency domain field plots over any regions of the model, and for any number of frequencies, from a single time domain analysis.
