C&D Technologies Promotes Kiely

Leonard Kiely has been promoted to the role of chief operating officer at C&D Technologies Inc. of Blue Bell, Pennsylvania.

“Since joining C&D in June 2006, Kiely has led the company’s power systems division as vice president and general manager. In this role, he developed our cost reduction strategy that will deliver over $30 million in savings during this year and next,” says Dr. Jeff Graves, C&D’s president and CEO. “In addition, Kiely has led sales efforts to new heights through an extremely difficult period of rapidly rising lead costs, and expanded our new product pipeline with a strong focus on battery technology. Under his leadership, sales have grown sequentially, while implementing new pricing methods into contracts with key customers to allow for future recovery of lead costs.”

Prior to joining C&D, Kiely held key leadership positions at Precision Castparts Corp., SPS Corp., and Raychem Corp. From this background, he brings a disciplined operations leadership style to C&D, with a focus on planning and execution that is essential to the company’s future success.
