Sony To Build Singapore Plant

Sony Corp. will spend ¥11.5B to build a mobile phone battery factory in Singapore. Operations will begin operation in August 2008 with an initial monthly capacity of 1 million batteries, which will be increased to 8 million when it is at full capacity in 2010. The new factory will employ about 500 workers and produce batteries with a more advanced Li-ion polymer technology.
