Vu Becomes EaglePicher VP

Viet Vu

Viet Vu has joined EaglePicher Technologies LLC as vice president of technology. He will work from the R&D center in Joplin, Missouri, which develops lithium-ion cells and batteries.

In this newly created strategic position, Vu is responsible for the design and development of new technology power sources for the defense, space, medical and commercial applications. His responsibilities include resource planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of engineering initiatives including systems integration, prototyping, testing, and technology development and commercialization.

Vu was vice president and chief scientist at Rayovac where he led a team of 50 professionals. While at Rayovac, he received the 2003 Popular Science Best of What’s New Award for developing the world’s first and fastest 15-minute rechargeable NiMH battery. Vu also developed the world’s highest energy density battery for military applications. Vu holds a bachelor’s degree in paper science and engineering from the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point, and a master’s degree in materials from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee. He has authored and co-authored more than 60 U.S. and international patents.
