Toda Kogyo Buys German Battery Business

Iron oxide producer Toda Kogyo Corp. of Hiroshima, Japan, has acquired the battery products business of Germany’s H.C. Starck GmbH in a deal valued at around $16.8M, reports Business in Asia Today.

Starck annually produces 4,000 tons of Li-ion and nickel hydride battery products at a plant in Ontario, Canada. Toda currently produces Li-ion battery products for personal computers and mobile phones at its plant in Onoda, Yamaguchi Prefecture, and Li-ion battery materials for power tools at its Kitakyushu plant.
