Ener1 Appoints Snyder and Baker

Ener1 Inc. of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, has appointed Thomas J. Snyder and Kenneth R. Baker as members of its board of directors. Both had distinguished careers at General Motors and extensive experience in electric vehicles and batteries.

Snyder led the management buyout of GM battery supplier Delco Remy from the auto giant and was president from 1994 and CEO from 2000 through 2006 of Remy International in Anderson, Indiana. He is now president of Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana, and chairman of the Flagship Energy Systems Center, Indiana’s first energy-focused center of excellence working on hybrid systems, lithium batteries, and solid oxide fuel cells.

Baker recently served as president, CEO and member of the board of trustees of Altarum Institute. Prior to that, he served as vice chairman and chief operating officer of Energy Conversion Devices in 1999, having spent more than 30 years at GM, most recently as program manager of electric vehicles. He also was the founding chairman of the United States Advanced Battery Consortium (USABC).
