King County to Expand Hybrid Bus Fleet
The Puget Sound Business Journal reports that King County, Washington, could add up to 500 new hybrid buses costing as much as $400 million to its fleet over the next five years. County officials said the buses will be built by New Flyer Industries of Canada, General Motors Corp. and Cummins Engine Co. The first 22 will arrive next spring, and another 100 should arrive in 2009, according to King County Executive Ron Sims. The county currently operates 214 GM hybrid-powered buses.
