Dhar Becomes Ener1 President

Subhash Dhar has joined Ener1 of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, as its president. He previously was president of Ovonic Battery Co. Inc. and chief operating officer of Ovonic Fuel Cell Co., both divisions of Energy Conversion Devices Inc. Dhar led the pioneering efforts of Ovonic Battery’s commercialization of Ni-MH batteries for electric and hybrid electric vehicles. He was the proponent and an architect of Cobasys, the joint venture between Energy Conversion Devices and Chevron Corp. At Ener1, Dhar will be responsible for overall man-agement, strategic direction and operations of the company, including its subsidiaries.
In other news, Ener1’s subsidiary, EnerDel, has received orders to deliver Li-ion battery samples to a leading European OEM automotive company and a tier one automotive supplier. The samples will be tested in programs to use Li-ion batteries in hybrid electric vehicles. EnerDel is also in discussions with several U.S.-based OEMs and tier-one automotive suppliers for delivery of Li-ion battery samples for evaluation.
