Azure Dynamics Corp. has appointed Scott T. Harrison, P. Eng, as chief executive officer. Former CEO D. Campbell Deacon becomes chairman of the board.
Harrison comes to Azure from Hayes Lemmerz, a $2 billion per annum Tier 1 auto supplier, where he was group president responsible for two global businesses. He holds a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from Ohio State University and a master of science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Dayton, Ohio.
In other news, Azure Dynamics plans to establish its head office in the Detroit/Windsor area or in Ohio. Its head office in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and the U.K. Kenilworth office and service center will be closed.
“The scope of our work with Ford and other leaders in the automotive sector makes the establishment of the head office in the Detroit/Windsor area, or possibly Ohio, a natural next step for Azure. In addition, these practical moves are expected to provide cost savings in excess of $1.6 million annually,” says Harrison. “We will be resolving very quickly what financial incentives might be available to Azure before finalizing our location, as many jurisdictions view the hybrid business as the key to the future of the automotive business.”
