Micro Power Buys Recharger Maker

Love

The Portland Business Journal reports that specialty battery maker Micro Power Electronics Inc. of Beaverton, Oregon, has acquired battery charger company SelfCharge Inc. of Redmond, Washington.

Micro Power closed last year with over $50 million in revenue. The addition of the operations of SelfCharge Inc., which has about $25 million in annual revenue, “helps us get closer to $100 million – if not this year, then next,” says Micro Power CEO Greg Love.

SelfCharge’s 75 employees will remain in the new division in Redmond. Micro Power has 250 employees mainly in Beaverton and plans to eventually shift to designing complete systems – battery packs with rechargers – in both Beaverton and Redmond.

Micro Power designs battery packs for portable medical devices such as defibrillators, as well as handheld data collection devices, field instruments and portable electronic systems used by the military.
