MEBCO Hits 10 Million Battery Mark

The Middle East Battery Co. (MEBCO) recently produced its 10 millionth ACDelco maintenance-free battery. This milestone has been achieved in less than 10 years of production (shown right) at its factory in Dammam in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. To mark the occasion Terry Johnsson, General Motors' managing director, was presented with a commemorative trophy by Joe Elenz, aftersales director at General Motors Middle East, and John Grant, sales and marketing manager at MEBCO. MEBCO set up the Middle East's first maintenance-free battery production facility in 1997 and now has a 34% share of the regional battery market. ACDelco, a subsidiary of General Motors, has been an integral part of the automotive industry for almost 100 years. Johnsson said, "This is a wonderful achievement and congratulations go to everyone who has worked so hard to achieve it."
