EnerSys to Purchase Bulgarian Battery Company

EnerSys of Reading, Pennsylvania, has reached an agreement to acquire a majority interest in Energia AD, an industrial battery producer in Targovishte, Bulgaria. The total purchase price is expected to be approximately Euro 13 million (about $17 million) and will be financed using existing EnerSys credit facilities. Completion of the transaction, expected for April, is subject to the customary closing conditions, including the receipt of government consents. EnerSys also has completed the acquisition of the industrial lead-acid battery business of the Swiss company, Leclanche SA.
