Tesla Roadster EV Offers Speed Boost

The Telsa Roadster is the first performance electric car manufactured by Tesla Motors. It boasts a top speed of 130mph and a 250-mile range on a single charge. The company says its extended range is due to its lithium-ion energy storage system. The Roadster is capable of accelerating from 0-60 mph in about four seconds. The car comes with its Electric Vehicle Service Equipment (EVSE), a home-based charging system. An optional mobile charging kit, for recharging while away from the EVSE, also features this automatic disconnect system. Charging takes approximately 3.5 hours. Tesla has signed up a number of customers for the $80,000 car and hopes to start deliveries this summer.
