Lithium-ion Batteries with Phosphate Cathodes
The Power Tool Division of Robert Bosch GmbH and Phostech Lithium Inc. in Montreal, Canada, a subsidiary of Süd Chemie AG, are cooperating in the field of lithium-ion batteries. The partner companies have agreed to develop a new, more powerful Li-ion battery technology for power tools for launch in 2007.
Phostech develops and produces battery cathodes based on li-metal phosphate, especially lithium-iron phosphate, and has the exclusive license for the key patent owned by the University of Texas, governing the use of li-metal phosphate in Europe, the U.S., and Canada. Bosch will contribute its extensive expertise in the electronic control of battery operation and charging processes.
