South Korean Company Patents "Paper Battery"

Rocket Electric Co., a South Korean battery manufacturer, has received a patent for technologies developed in producing ultra-small manganese batteries that can be used in portable devices. The batteries, called “paper batteries,” weigh 0.15gm and are 0.5mm in width. The patent involves technologies that encourage chemical reactions in a high electric discharge, thus improving overall electricity production efficiency.

The company expects its paper batteries, whose size is smaller than a business card, to be mostly used in radio frequency identification. The batteries will hit the market within one or two years.
