EaglePicher Relocates Phoenix Facility

EaglePicher Technologies is relocating its automated battery facility from Phoenix, Arizona, to Pittsburg, Kansas. Preparation work has already begun at the new location on 2919 N. Rotary Terrace, very close to the campus of Pittsburg State University. The automated manufacturing equipment has already been shipped from Phoenix, and the 30,000-square foot facility is scheduled to be operational by the end of the year.

The automated facility will produce specialized batteries for the Defense Power product line and employ approximately 50 employees.

Several cities in four states were considered as possible locations for the transfer. “One of the terrific advantages of this location selection,” said Steve Westfall, president of EaglePicher Technologies, “is the already developing opportunity it gives us to partner with Pittsburg State University on processing and engineering techniques. It will also allow us to use the university as a resource for talent going forward.”
