Saft Plans New U.K. Site
Battery maker Saft will invest in a new manufacturing
site in Britain to replace its facilities in South
Shields, United Kingdom, which were acquired in
2001.
The company supplies batteries for industrial
and defense markets, including the Ministry of
Defense.
Saft said that its existing U.K. site no longer
meets future needs and plans to upgrade to a new
manufacturing site rather than investing in upgrading
its present base.
The company is working with local and regional
bodies to identify a suitable location for the
development of its new facility in the northeast
of England.
