Johnson Controls Acquires York
Johnson Controls Inc. has aquired York International
for approximately $3.2 billion.
York, with estimated annual revenue of nearly
$5 billion, becomes a part of Johnson Controls
building efficiency business an area that
the company said generated sales of $5.7 billion
in 2005. The combined business will have customers
in 125 countries and will serve them from more
than 700 locations.
The complementary capabilities of the two
businesses create an offering that will reshape
our industry and deliver benefits to our customers
and shareholders, said Stephen A. Roell,
Johnson Controls vice chairman and executive
vice president.
After the deal was completed, the Johnson Controls
board elected former York CEO and president C.
David Myers as a vice president and corporate
officer of Johnson Controls. Myers also was named
president of the building efficiency business,
reporting to Roell.
