Johnson Controls Acquires York

Johnson Controls Inc. has aquired York International for approximately $3.2 billion.

York, with estimated annual revenue of nearly $5 billion, becomes a part of Johnson Controls’ building efficiency business – an area that the company said generated sales of $5.7 billion in 2005. The combined business will have customers in 125 countries and will serve them from more than 700 locations.

“The complementary capabilities of the two businesses create an offering that will reshape our industry and deliver benefits to our customers and shareholders,” said Stephen A. Roell, Johnson Controls’ vice chairman and executive vice president.

After the deal was completed, the Johnson Controls board elected former York CEO and president C. David Myers as a vice president and corporate officer of Johnson Controls. Myers also was named president of the building efficiency business, reporting to Roell.
