ISL9204 Li-ion Battery Charger IC

Intersil Corp.’s 28V input ISL9204 is a fully integrated, single-cell, lithium-ion battery charger which eliminate the over-voltage protection circuit normally required in low-input chargers, reducing component count and overall system cost. The ISL9204 accepts input voltages up to 28V, but is disabled when the input voltage exceeds 10V, enhancing system protection. The device is optimized for smaller cell capacities by setting the trickle charge threshold at 2.7V and offering charge current accuracy of 10% between 75mA and 150mA.

The ISL9204 performs the constant current/constant voltage charge function required by Li-ion batteries. The charge current and end-of-charge current are programmable with external resistors.

The ISL9204 is available in an eight-lead DFN package, and is priced at $1.15 in 1,000-unit quantities.
