Electro Energy Delivers Powerful Battery System

Electro Energy Inc., a leading provider of advanced battery technologies and associated systems, has delivered its most powerful battery system to date.

The 600 VDC, 35kWh, 20kW bipolar nickel metal-hydride (BP NiMH) system is designed to address critical power applications such as uninterruptible power supply, motive power and similar energy storage needs. It was delivered to the Knoxville, Tennessee, test facility of EPRI Solutions, Inc., where it will be tested and evaluated for utility load leveling and peak shaving efficacy.

The system is microprocessor-controlled and comprises sixteen 150V battery modules arranged as four parallel strings of four modules in series. It was built at Electro Energy’s Danbury, Connecticut, research and development facility under a contract with the U.S. Department of Energy for the further development of the company’s bipolar nickel metal-hydride battery technology.
