356 Hybrid Vehicles Added to Provinces
Green Fleet
Victoria, British Columbia, is adding 356 gasoline-electric
hybrid vehicles to the government fleet, establishing
BC as the global leader in sustainable environmental
management, Premier Gordon Campbell said.
Adding more hybrid vehicles to the government
fleet is a practical and effective example of
how we can use proven, existing technology to
help improve air quality and meet our environmental
goals, said Campbell.
Approximately 15% of the provincial government
fleet consists of green vehicles, including 45
gasoline-electric hybrids as well as natural gas
and propane powered vehicles. The additional hybrids
will be used as part of the provincial fleet in
communities including Victoria, Vancouver, Kamloops,
Kelowna, Trail and Prince George.
The Province also offers British Columbians who
buy hybrid vehicles to save up to $2,000 in PST.
The benefit will remain in place until March 31,
2008.
