EaglePicher Wins Innovation Award

EaglePicher Horizon Batteries, LLC of Phoenix, Arizona, has won the 2004 Frost & Sullivan Product Differentiation Innovation Award in the world motive lead acid (MLA) battery market for its sealed 12D2000 VRLA battery. EaglePicher HorizonTM batteries are used in the trucking industry where high power, light weight, long life and quick recharge time are critical. They also can be used in applications ranging from industrial to high-performance car audio equipment to electrical vehicles.

Steven E. Westfall, president of Eagle Picher Horizon, says, “The 12D2000 offers important advantages in terms of cost savings due to our advanced manufacturing techniques as well as the superior technical performance that the battery offers.”

The EaglePicher Horizon 12D2000 is a lead acid battery product based on woven grid technology that significantly reduces the internal impedance of the battery, thereby providing greater efficiency, fast recharge and higher cold cranking power.

The Frost & Sullivan Product Differentiation Innovation Award is presented to the company that has best demonstrated the ability to develop and/or advance products with more innovative capabilities than competing vendors and products. This award recognizes the company’s successful adoption of new or existing technology that has become a part of its well-designed product family. Such innovation is expected to significantly contribute to the industry in terms of product performance and degree/rate of technical change.
