NorthStar Battery Expands
NorthStar Battery Co. is investing $5.5 million
to expand its 140,000 square foot plant in Springfield,
Illinois, reports News-Leader. The 60,000
square foot expansion will create 60 additional
jobs – boosting personnel to 200.
The four-year-old company manufactures lead acid
batteries used primarily as backup power for wireless
communication network applications. Although it
has an office in Stockholm, Sweden, all of NorthStar’s
products are manufactured at its Springfield plant
located relatively close to Missouri’s supplies
of lead.
