Duracell Battery Included in Museum Exhibition

Duracell’s AA alkaline battery is included in an exhibition entitled Humble Masterpieces at the Museum of Modern Art’s temporary exhibition facility in Long Island City, Queens, New York. The exhibition is on view through September 27.

Humble Masterpieces spotlights everyday objects “modest in size and price,” that are “true masterpieces” of design. The Duracell AA battery, which first appeared in 1960, was included in Humble Masterpieces by the exhibition’s curator, Paola Antonelli of MoMA’s architecture and design department. It sits alongside other distinguished entrants, such as chopsticks, safety pins, an ice cream scoop, and Post-It notes.
