Sanyo Completes Battery Factory in Tokushima
Sanyo Electric Co, Ltd has completed its new lithium- ion battery factory
in Itano County, Tokushima.
The building, dubbed “Energy Dream 21,”
was slated to begin full operations in June.
Sanyo began mass production of nickel-cadmium
batteries in 1964, nickel metal-hydride batteries
in 1990, and lithium-ion batteries in 1994.
Sanyo is expecting to increase the worldwide monthly
production of lithium-ion batteries from the current
44 million to 58 million before the end of 2004.
