SION Powers Lithium Sulfur Battery
SION Power Corp. of Tucson, Arizona, has demonstrated the first lithium sulfur,
very high-specific energy rechargeable battery
as a power source for a notebook personal computer.
The battery reliably powered an HP TC1000 Tablet
PC for an entire day on a single charge in Seattle,
Washington.
SION Power lithium sulfur (Li-S) batteries will
have more than 350Wh/kg of power and will last
in excess of 300 recharge cycles. The battery
will enable notebook and tablet PCs to achieve
an eight-hour runtime on a single charge, twice
whats currently found in other rechargeable
batteries, while weighing less than current batteries.
The company has 40 employees, including 11 Ph.D.s
and is dedicated to Next Generation
technology. For more information, contact Mark
