Alcatel Sells Saft
In January, telecommunications giant Alcatel sold Saft, its subsidiary specializing
in batteries, to Doughty Hanson & Co. for
390 million euros.
Saft, headquartered in France, is the leading
manufacturer of industrial and specialty batteries,
employing 4000 people in 14 sites worldwide.
The acquisition is Doughty Hansons first
private equity investment in France, following
Yann Duchesnes appointment to run its Paris
office in 2003. The independent fund management
company has eight other offices in the U.S. and
Europe.
